Course Overview

This programme prepares you for the CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice, the recognised entry qualification into professional human resources. It is designed for HR administrators and coordinators, and for professionals transferring into a people function from another discipline.

We cover the foundation units systematically: business, culture and change in context; principles of analytics; core behaviours for people professionals; and essentials of people practice. Each unit combines video instruction, an applied case example drawn from live consulting work, and a written assignment workshop.

Because CIPD is assessed through written coursework rather than a timed examination, a substantial part of this course is dedicated to assignment technique: how to structure an answer, how to select and cite evidence, how to apply a framework to a specific organisational context, and how to avoid the resubmission triggers our trainers encounter most often.

What You Will Learn

Explain how organisational strategy, culture and external context shape people practice

Apply core analytical techniques to workforce data and present findings credibly

Demonstrate the professional behaviours CIPD assesses, including ethical practice and evidence-based reasoning

Deliver the essential operational areas of people practice across the employee lifecycle

Structure a CIPD written assignment that satisfies assessment criteria on the first submission

Reference professional literature to the academic standard the qualification requires

What Students Say

“I had failed one assignment before joining, so I was cautious. What made the difference here was the feedback: it was specific, it referenced the assessment criteria directly, and it told me exactly which paragraph was description rather than analysis. I passed all three remaining assignments first time.”

HR Business Partner · Regional Manufacturing Group

“We had a pay structure that nobody could explain and compression across three grades. The compensation workshop gave me the evaluation method and the modelling approach to rebuild it properly, and the remediation costing was what finally persuaded our finance director.”

“The scheduling suited me because I studied after my children were asleep. Recordings were available immediately, the live sessions were recorded when I missed them, and the question bank was where I actually learned rather than where I tested myself.”
